This Year's All-Star Game is Full of Snubbery...Sometimes.
A meaningful topic about a nearly meaningless game
Alright, y’all, no more arguing about who might get in — even though I did just that a week ago, whoops — the All-Star rosters are officially filled. Of course, that doesn’t exactly quench the thirst of the masses, who now turn to an all the more polarizing topic: The snubs.
Yes, every year we look to who didn’t get in as proof that the NBA is doing something wrong, pointing fingers and taking sides about that one player that, to some, had to get in, while others simply shrug with a “meh.”
I want to talk about those players today on a case-by-case basis and throw my hat into the ring as to why the player should or shouldn’t have gotten in. However, unlike most snub talk, every single player I believe should get in will be given a player to replace, because that’s how the All-Star Game works and is why certain snubs are harder to de-snub (that’s not a word, but whatever) than others.
First, let’s take a look at a player who I’ve seen some fight over tooth-and-nail, despite me believing he’s an easily justifiable exclusion…
