Hey you! Want access to this draft piece? Become a premium subscriber today!

We’re in the home stretch now! The 2025 Draft officially commences on Wednesday (with the second round to go forward on Thursday), so I can only put out prospective draft pieces for the next few days, which is a shame! Of course, there will be more speculation to be had after the draft, but time is ticking away!

Today, I want to take a look at some players who I’m lower on than the consensus*. There are a few specific guys that I don’t see the hype around, and while I rarely have a guy slide more than 3 to 5 spots in my mental big board, there are still slides to be had.

However, to get away from being a full Debbie Downer over here, I want to also analyze what the player could improve upon that would change my mind (and, crucially, this does not involve height, because very few guys will grow after hitting the NBA). Each player could, in theory, improve upon something that brings me closer to consensus on their profile, and I want to recognize that, along with the fact that I could end up being very wrong.

With that in mind, let’s get right into it, with the highest-level prospect that I simply don’t get as a top-5 guy (and also the one who I could be the most wrong about)…

*Note: Consensus ranking is based on Rookie Scale’s Consensus Big Board
