The Pacers Are Everything New York Wants to Be
And how options may be running out to get through this series
I’ll go ahead and say it: I’d quite like to see the Indiana Pacers get to the Finals — heck, I’d love to see Indiana win it all this year. It’s not that I’m a Knicks hater, as I quite enjoy watching Brunson and The Boys play ball, but it’s simply the fact that I, as some of you know, am I massive fan of Tyrese Haliburton and his crew’s motto of “He’s down there somewhere!” It’s like football, but if the time between plays weren’t multiple minutes and 17 Papa John’s commercials:
As it turns out, running the Knicks ragged has been a pretty good strategy, though, as you’ll see in a moment, some wildly-hot shooting has assisted along the way.
It’s quite intriguing, actually, because the Knicks built their team to operate in a not-entirely-dissimilar manner. I’m not talking about the “Chuck the ball down the court” thing, because Tom Thibodeau would riot, but there are other aspects that make this series feel as if New York were staring in the mirror — and it’s a mirror that shows New York what they wish they were.
Time is running out in this series for the Knicks to catch up to that lofty image, though. Let’s talk about what the Pacers are doing well that New York wishes it were…
