The Kings Are One of The Unluckiest Teams in The NBA. Is It A Wake Up Call?
On tomatoes, contending, and Sacramento's need to choose.
Things aren’t exactly fine and dandy in The Big Tomato. If you don’t know what or where The Big Tomato is, you’re not alone, because I had no idea such a name existed when I typed, “Nicknames for Sacramento” into Google; sure enough, the lycopersicon esculentum (what a scientific name for a tomato!) canning industry loves the city. But we’re not here for a history lesson, I suppose.
At the moment, the Sacramento Kings find themselves as one of the bottom four teams in the admittedly stacked Western Conference, despite trying to push for true contention this year to justify their own offseason moves. And yet, if you dig a little deeper, it isn’t as bad as it looks. The team, quite possibly, is the unluckiest team we’ve witnessed this year — and that could be the wake-up call that Sacramento needs. And maybe, just maybe, a trade or two could reset their trajectory.
