Next Up (Or Not): Thoughts From This Week's Summer League Games
Another Nembhard appears, the Timberwolves' stash, and various overreactions
It’s that time again, the time during which everyone seems to know everything about every prospect, all from a single game of play. And, of course, everyone also includes me.
Kidding aside, Summer League is a time where overreactions run rampant, possibly more than at any other point in the NBA calendar. One bad game from a top pick — Cooper Flagg apparently is a Walmart version of Detlef Schrempf now — results in bust accusations, while one good game from a second-rounder catapults him into Nikola Jokic-type steal territory.
I’m going to try to be a bit even-keeled here, even if it’s hard not to overreact to some great (and not so great) performances from players at Summer League. There are a few players who caught my eye through the first two days in Vegas (for better and for worse), so let’s just get into it right away…
