I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: This is my favorite time of the NBA calendar.

Not only do we have some really great playoff action going on, but in the background we have been blessed with the NBA Draft Lottery, the G League Elite camp, and the NBA Combine, all of which completely change the paradigm for prospects who may or may not be coming into the league in a little over a month.

Today, then, I want to take a look at the Combine, which has (probably too much) significant influence on how a prospect can be viewed, particularly if they aren’t a lock at their original position. For example, a poor athletic showing from Cooper Flagg (his showing was average for his frame and size, mind you) doesn’t change the paradigm at all, because we’ve seen what he does on the court. For other prospects, though, their spot is not nearly as secure as a generational prospect’s would be, so we tend to pay a bit more attention to the little things that go wrong at the Combine.

So, classic winners and losers here. Let’s get right into it, starting with a prospect whose poor Combine showing may derail some hype…
