Are We Underrating The Timberwolves?
The Timberwolves are in the upper echelon of teams right now, yet the media doesn't really care. What gives?
The Timberwolves are good at basketball.
That, in and of itself, feels very strange to say after what has been a tumultuous past two decades in which Minnesota has not won a single playoff series. Their last playoff series win came in the 2003-2004 playoffs, which seems, uh, wrong. For reference, here’s what the world was like in 2004:
Spider-Man 2 just released, as well as The Incredibles.
Blockbuster was still in business
Facebook was founded
Bluetooth was the new technology on the block
The world’s first gigabyte SD card was created
Therefore, the Timberwolves haven’t won a playoff series since Facebook first stepped into the interwebs — once again, bad. Yet, they’re currently the best they’ve been in literal decades. It’s too bad the media is still underestimating their impact. Am I a “Timberwolves Fan”? No, not in particular. However, as they say, you can’t argue with results. If that’s true, why are some media outlets arguing with said results?
