I love the start of the NBA season. The leaves begin to fall, players begin to mesh with their new and refreshed teams, and the Pistons sometimes make us question whether or not they’re worthy of being an NBA franchise. It’s like death and taxes — Live, Laugh, Languish at the start of the season. And this year, there are quite a few surprising 0-2 starts to languish in.
Yet, does falling 0-2 at the beginning of the season mean your squad is destined for drudgery? After all, it’s just two games, right? Today, I want to take a quick look at what the data says about teams who have started their seasons 0-2 over the past 10 or so seasons, going all the way back to 2013-14, and whether or not the above statement is true. Then, we’re going to select a few teams who have started this season 0-2 and take a stab at whether or not they’ll be able to turn it around. Let’s dive right in.
