Agents of Chaos: 3 Western Conference Teams With The Most Unpredictability
The NBA's chaos era might be in better health than ever, if these three teams have anything to say about it
45 days till the 2024-25 season — somehow! We’re nearly in the home stretch here, with training camp, preseason shenanigans, and media day appointments to be conducted, right up until the Knicks host Boston to kick off the beginning of the season. So, in the spirit of the very-close-yet-so-far period we find ourselves in, I want to take a look at four different teams who have the widest range of outcomes this year.
I like to call the upcoming NBA era the Chaos Era, simply because the NBA’s new CBA rules have made it much more difficult to build a dynasty. With smaller markets now having a better chance of signing free agents, we’re bound to see some unlikely teams take the leap this year, similar to how the Indiana Pacers did in this previous season. However, some of those same teams may also fall to the bottom of the pack in a race for the presumed top pick in the 2025 Draft, Cooper Flagg — and not because they necessarily are trying to. In other words, we’re looking at the streaky teams today. We’ll cover the Western Conference with a trio of teams, while the Eastern Conference will be up for tomorrow’s piece.
