2024-25 Season Preview: The Two Tyrese Haliburtons
After a dichotomous season, can Tyrese Haliburton return to his superstar ways?
If you’ve read this newsletter for any period of time, you’ve likely figured out that I’m a pretty big Tyrese Haliburton guy. Last offseason, I even went as far as to deem him the Gen Z Chris Paul, which led to me feeling quite vindicated after another All-Star season from the pretty-passing point guard. And yet, while I still feel he is the most Chris Paul-like player in the league at the moment — not named, of course, Chris Paul — his second half of the season gave a lot of NBA fans pause. After a crucial hamstring strain in January, he seemed to return to passivity, despite still dishing out miraculous passes.
With the Pacers looking to take another leap in the upcoming season, we have to wonder which Tyrese Haliburton we are going to get; the dominant offensive force or the passive one? The answer could significantly change the trajectory of Indiana’s season — but first, let’s talk about what changes Haliburton made to make his second All-Star season in 2023-24…
