After trading Dejounte Murray for a strangely tanky package, just what are ATL's plans to get back on track?
The Hawks have fallen quite far from the proverbial nest over their past few seasons. After a run to the conference finals in 2021 — which, mind you, feels like an eternity ago at this point — Atlanta suddenly finds itself back at square one, albeit with Trae Young still at the helm.
The team is now one #1 pick richer with Zaccharie Risacher on the team, yet is one star poorer after trading Dejounte Murray in an all-too-strange deal that puts into question where the Hawks think they’re going.
Dealing Dejounte in the way they did creates multiple opportunities, but also creates multiple obstacles that the team will have to tackle this offseason or else they’ll run into a big case of mediocrity — and with it, handing over a top pick in next year’s stacked draft to the San Antonio Spurs.
